I didn't think it mattered until a client asked me to stop emailing him from my gmail because he was worried of phishing. He asked why I didn't have a company email. I think he is more the exception than the rule but there is actually some widely held perceptions held by people about what different email addresses say about someone. I've heard tech people look at people with AOL or Yahoo email addresses as lightweights. Great, now you don't just have to worry about how people judge you based on your clothes or car, you have to fret about your email address too. My advice is to not fret about any of it.

For branding? Yes, it matters. That's the point of branding.

Pepsi, Coke and Apple don't use Pps Ck or ppl. Some huge brands are lucky enough to get nick names like Mickey D's, but that's granted by fans, not part of a mis-brand strategy by McDonald's.

It would be easier for me to tweet to @MttFgl but that wouldn't help your brand.

Pick a name and stick with it. It will eliminate confusion and build awareness for your new conference.

On another note, this QR conversation reminded me about RedLaser. Check out that iPhone app for price checking barcodes in stores. Very fun. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9_hFGsmx_6k

Huh, you found no value in this story that was published today, written by AJC staff writers Jeremy Redmon and Rhonda Cook?
 http://www.ajc.com/news/state-has-just-weeks-5934...

"Georgia officials didn’t apply for federal stimulus funding to help struggling low-income families keep their homes until more than a year after Congress made the money available through the Recovery Act.

Now they are scrambling to distribute about $7.6 million of this aid before a federal Sept. 30 deadline. Any stimulus money left unspent by that deadline is supposed to go back to the federal Temporary Assistance for Needy Families fund."
